Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account details: your email address or phone number, your username, and your password (stored securely, never in plain text).
• Your date of birth and, if you give it, your gender. Both are stored encrypted.
• Photos you upload: photos of yourself, garments and outfits, and the images Vair generates for you.
• Details Vair works out from your photos to personalise suggestions, such as skin tone, hair colour, body shape and build, and the tags it gives your garments.
• What you save and say in the app: your wardrobe, lists, saved looks, likes, and the messages you send to Vair's styling assistant.
• Your credit balance, subscription status and purchase records. Card and payment details are handled by Google Play or the App Store; we never see them.
• If you turn on notifications, a device token and your notification settings, so we can send them.
• Basic technical records, such as when you signed in and how much AI processing a request used, to keep the service running and secure.
• A selfie used for face verification before a Try On is generated.
• Records of the Terms version you accepted and when.

How we use it

We use your information to run your account and to produce the results you ask for: Try On images, Wardrobe, Discovery and Outfit of the day. We don't sell your personal data, your photos or your generated results to anyone, for any purpose.

• AI service providers. To produce the result you asked for, your photo, the garment and outfit photos you upload, and any messages to the styling assistant may be sent to our AI providers: Google (Gemini), which analyses photos and writes suggestions, and FASHN, which creates Try On images. They receive only what's needed for that request, and we use them under terms that don't allow your data to be used to train their models.
• Face verification. The selfie is handled entirely on our own servers. It is never shared with or sent to a third party, and is used only to confirm your identity for your own Try On requests.
• Gender and date of birth. Gender is used only to personalise suggestions inside Vair. Neither is shared outside Vair.

How we protect it

Your photos and sensitive details are encrypted on our servers, and access to them is limited to what running the service requires. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect what you give us.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. If you delete your account, you have 30 days to change your mind. After that, your account, photos, wardrobe, saved looks and generated results are permanently deleted. We may keep records of payments for as long as the law requires. Backup copies of our systems are encrypted and are overwritten on a rolling schedule.

Who can use Vair

You must be at least 18. We rely on the date of birth you give us and may suspend an account if we have reason to think it doesn't meet this minimum.

Your choices

• You can delete your account yourself in the app (Menu, then Account, then Delete Account), or by email. See Delete your account.
• You can turn notifications off in the app's settings.
• You can ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it, by emailing support@vair-protelle.com.

Launch list

If you join our launch list on this website, we collect your email address and, if you choose to tell us, the kind of phone you use. We use them only to write to you when Vair opens. We do not sell them or use them for anything else. The sign-up form is processed for us by our website host, Netlify. To be removed from the list at any time, email support@vair-protelle.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, where needed, ask you to accept the new version in the app.
